With a cold mind and a little big void, I write these few lines, in memory of a very well known and unknown person.
On May 10th, Richard Benson passed away. I am not here to talk about his career or about what he has done in life; I just want to dedicate a memory to him, because he was somehow an important part of my adolescence.
I must admit with a little shame that I knew him only through the YouTube Poops, very popular videos in the years between 2011 and 2015: he was the protagonist in many of these (I remember, for example, the YouTuber Cannatoflavio's videos that were "bensoncentric"). Initially I thougth Richard was a bizarre person, one of the many "crazy" people on the internet, but then I started to know him better and appreciate his long anecdotes or his particular stories: sometimes he invented them, at other times he had interesting political thougths, still other times he stayed in a gray area where it was not clear what was a "lie" and what was the truth...But this thing was part of his character too, a part of his mysterious and interesting figure.
For many people, yesterday as today, he was a crazy nut. For me unfortunately he was neither a mentor, nor a teacher, nor a reference figure...but he was definitely an hide "friend" who became part of my adolescence and part of my friends group with his phrases and his quotes that we still remember and use sometimes.
In those same years, I started playing guitar and music. I must confess: not thanks to him but by a coincidence; however, although the two things were not related, I loved listening what he had to say about music and there was this "poem", "ode" - I don't know how to define it - that I liked so much at that time and I remember it today again. I don't know if invented it or if he heard it from someone else, but with these words I would like to remember him for all that he was, for all that he has been and for all that he will be even now in some way:
"Il rock è come un albero grande che tutti i suoi frutti ti dà, per quanti gliene domandi sempre uno ne troverà. Ti dà il fiore, il frutto, la foglia...il rock per te di tutto se spoglia. Anche n'amplificatore te troverà!".

(The Rock is like a big tree that gives you all its fruits and for those who ask them to it, it will always find one. It gives you the flower, the fruit, the leaf...the Rock rids himself of all things for you and also an amplifier will find for you!)
Thanks Richard, for everything and for nothing. From one of the many fans who have followed you over this years.
